SITCO - Survey of Traditional Crafts Persons (CERF)

Donor: Sindh Indigenous and Traditional Craft Company (SITCO)

Districts: (Jacobabad), (Ghotki), (Shikarpur), (Sukkur) and (Khairpur).

Duration: 6 September – 6 November 2010

Major Activities:

SRSO signed an MoU with SITCO for the Identification and Survey of Traditional Crafts persons in the Camps, whose livelihoods and crafts had been affected by the floods.
A total of 1,150 traditional crafts persons were identified in 50 camps across the districts of Jacobabad, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Sukkur, and Khairpur, and were provided financial and social assistance by SITCO in enhancing their skill and providing them with incentive-based work orders.
A total of 50 master trainers (one in each camp) were selected, they underwent intensive training to monitor the progress of the group and assist the group in skill development. Under the project each craftsperson was given an order to make a specific product, they were supplied with quality raw materials, according to their skills, and these products were then displayed at an exhibition in Karachi.
